Philadelphia isn’t exactly the first place you think of when you hear the word “couture”. We’re home to a lot of things, but a thriving couture community is not exactly one of them, at least, that’s what I thought before Sunday night.
Philadelphia Couture Fashion Week is a celebration of local couture talent in Philadelphia and I was able to experience that up close and personal at Sunday’s finale show. As a member of the press I got a front row and behind the scenes look at designers featured throughout the week which include BET MOD (Happy Couture) Landa Styles Collection, Marle Originals, Cherish Seldon, Nje By Tahece and more.
The stylists, VIP fashion personalities, fashion buyers, and designers that were in attendance fully immersed themselves in the latest and most sought after fashion designs while sipping champagne that was offered at their front row seats. Models of every size, race, and age strutted their stuff in unique collections that were the perfect combination of couture and RTW.
So, Philadelphia may not be the first place you think of when it comes to couture but I’m encouraging you to think about that again. Because there is a lot of amazing talent here who are making their mark in the world of couture.
